A large question mark formed from rising bubbles, hovering over an empty pedestal on the sea floor.

If you’re arriving from the Steam page and wondering why a 2026 release stars a character who stopped streaming in 2025 — the answer is about who owns the character, and it’s short.

Why the game is unaffected

The character is COVER’s intellectual property, and holo Indie is COVER’s label for fan-made derivative games — the label’s own trailer describes it as a game brand for hololive production 二次創作 (derivative works), and the Steam page calls this one “an action-platformer fan game” in its own copy. A performer ending their activities doesn’t withdraw the character from the company’s catalogue. That’s why the store listing, the trailer and the copyright line all read exactly as they did before.

Why it changes how the game lands

Mechanically, nothing. Emotionally, quite a lot — and the reviews show it. One demo review is nothing but a quoted lyric. Another is a player saying they have followed development since 2022. A discussion thread asks whether Saba will play it.

For a large part of the audience this is the last major Gawr Gura release, and that’s a real part of why people are here. That context is part of the release, so it belongs on the page.
