Known Issues in the Demo — and Where Players Disagree
Every technical problem reported in the Quest for Bread demo, who reported it, and the two settings players actively argue about.
This is a demo-era list. None of it’s confirmed to still be present in the 27 August release — the point of writing it down now is to have a baseline to check against on day one.
Reported problems
| Issue | What players describe | Reported by | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Periodic freezes | Game hitches for up to a full second, repeatedly | Multiple reviewers | Reported in demo · not retested |
| Stuttery character | Character animation stutters while the camera stays smooth | Reviewer | Reported in demo · not retested |
| Mouse cursor on screen | Cursor stays visible; pushing it to a screen edge stops the camera turning | Reviewer | Reported in demo · not retested |
| No camera invert | No option to invert X/Y axis — requested outright | Reviewer | Reported in demo · not retested |
| Cutscene damage | You can take damage during a transition cutscene | Reviewer chasing the no-damage crown | Reported in demo · not retested |
| No audio | One player had no sound for the entire session | 1 reviewer (the only negative) | Reported in demo · single report |
| Bloom too strong | The Bloom setting makes the game “unplayably bright” | Discussion thread | Reported in demo · not retested |
Where players actually disagree
One review calls the gamepad good. One discussion thread calls it jarring. That is the whole public record on the question.
“Controls feel great on a gamepad, and the platforming is really fun.” That is the only review in the English set that mentions a controller at all.
A discussion thread is titled, plainly, “Gamepad controls a bit jarring”. Not everyone landed in the same place.
Both are real, and both are single data points — which is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up as a trend. There isn’t enough public detail to say whether the split comes from different controllers, different deadzone expectations, or the missing invert option colouring the whole experience. If you bounce off the pad, at least one other player did too.
What is genuinely praised
The performance complaints sit next to a review saying the opposite: “wow, a game that actually performs well”. Five reviews praise the movement by name. The freeze reports are real reports — this wiki has not reproduced them — and so is the fact that 57 of 58 reviewers still gave it a thumbs up.
After 27 August
This table gets a Fixed / Still present column, filled in from the release build itself. Patch notes alone won’t settle it. If something here is quietly resolved, that’s worth recording too.
